Alexander Francis Lydon (/ˈlaɪdən/ LY-dən; 1836/1837 – 1917) was an Irish-born British watercolour artist, illustrator and engraver of natural history and landscapes.
The Scots Dumpy is a traditional Scottish breed and has been bred in Scotland for more than two centuries. It has very short legs, so short that the body is a few centimetres from the ground.
However, the Scots Grey is a tall, upright chicken. Apart from the height, it is similar to the Scots Dumpy.
It is also marked with the publisher's name, and a short description of the breed titles won by the poultry.

The condition of the print shows signs of age related wear. There is some foxing and creasing and a fold across the centre, and at some point the frame's backing has been replaced. There are no apparent scratches, chips or marks.
