This is a full colour potrait orientation print from an original work by American artist and illustrator Zuleima Bruff-Jackson (1843-1915) who was best known for her floral paintings.
This illustration, for the poultry publication, The Feathered World, probably dates to around 1910, and is mounted in an attractive faux tortoiseshell style frame.
It is signed Bruff Jackson (bottom right) and marked with the publisher's name, mounted under glass in an attractive frame.
It features sex-linked crosses, Rhode Island Red and Light Sussex. Beneath the tiltle there is a note of explanation about cross-breeding.
This is an attractive piece of wall art, ideal for the kitchen, and also an item of interest for poultry enthusiasts and collectors of American artists and illustrators.
Print of a Rhode Island Red and Light Sussex cross by Bruff Jackson c1910
The condition of the print is good, given its age. At some point the frame's backing has been replaced. There are minor stains and fading around the border but nothing that detracts from the impact of the illustration. There are no apparent scratches, chips or marks on the frame.
